Things went pretty great for
Aston Martin during this weekend: next to unveiling the CC100 Speedster,
the company also obtained a record auction price for a unique DB4GT.
The car was part of the Aston Martin Centenary Sale at Aston Martin
Works on 18 May 2013, which totaled a record total of over £10 million
(more than $15 million), with every lot sold.
The DB4GT was auctioned for an impressive amount of £3,249,500 (a little
over $4,9 million) - the highest ever price paid for an Aston Martin at
auction.
However, this is not a regular DB4GT: it is nicknamed "The Jet" and was
the last DB4GT to be built. The model is a one-off edition and has been
designed by the Italian design house Bertone. The model was unveiled at
the 1961 Geneva Motor Show.
This unique DB4GT won a total of 12 awards, including first in class at
Pebble Beach and the Hurlingham Club, and best in show at Villa d’Este.

Project 370Z live photos: 2013 Chicago Auto Show
A year ago Nissan launched a social media-directed Nissan 370Z build-up called "Project 370Z" at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show.
The idea was to capture the passion and knowledge of Nissan Z fans, online, to help direct the creation of a unique, one-off Nissan 370Z with readily available aftermarket parts and accessories.
"We thought it would be interesting to harness the power of social media to reach out to Z enthusiasts – the people who are doing this to their own cars every day," said Jon Brancheau, vice president, Nissan Marketing.
The finished Project 370Z car, which currently is on display at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, has more than 500 horsepower (a bump from the 332 hp on a stock 370Z) and performance features like a GReddy Twin Turbo kit with Type RZ Blow Off Valves and a GReddy Turbo Ti-C Exhaust. It rides low on VOLK TE37SL custom-finished wheels.
The next step in this campaign takes Project 370Z to the track. Social media followers are invited to vote for a privately owned Nissan Z to compete against the project car at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in mid-March. Toyota unveils 2014 Tundra at 2013 Chicago Auto Show
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., unveiled the redesigned 2014 Tundra full-size pickup truck at a press conference at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show.
Tundra has been a quality leader with Toyota’s DNA of quality, dependability and reliability. The industry has recognized Tundra with a myriad of awards over the last 12 years, including winning the J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study for seven years running in the Full-Size Pick Up segment. Not resting on its laurels, the 2014 Tundra will be redesigned, inside and out, representing the first major change since the launch of the current generation for the 2007 model year.
The redesigned Tundra continues to be a truck with true American roots that was once again engineered by Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., and its new look designed by Calty Design Research centers in Newport Beach, Calif., and Ann Arbor. Finally, Tundra continues to be assembled exclusively at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, in San Antonio, Texas.

Volvo updates the V70, XC70 and S80 - photos

In one fell swoop, Volvo has unveiled the 2012 V70, XC70 and S80.
On the design front, the updated models feature redesigned headlights, restyled wheels, and new door mirrors with LED indicators.
Inside, the cabin has been significantly improved with higher quality materials and advanced technology. Highlights include a new steering wheel, a redesigned center stack, and revised trim. In the tech department, there's a new Sensus infotainment system (with a five-inch or seven-inch touchscreen display), an updated adaptive cruise control system, Pedestrian Detection, and City Safety technology which automatically brakes the car if a collision is imminent.
Under the hood, two new engines are available. The 2.0-liter D3 is carried over from the S60/V60 and produces 163 hp (122 kW / 165 PS) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque.
On the other hand, the twin-turbo 2.4-liter D5 has been upgraded to develop 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and 440 Nm (324 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 10 hp (7 kW / 10 PS) and 20 Nm (15 lb-ft). Despite the extra power, Volvo says fuel consumption has been reduced by up to eight percent.
According to Volvo President and CEO Stefan Jacoby, "These cars mark yet another step forward in our determination to be the brand that best interprets what buyers of modern prestige cars want. Concern for the individual's well-being is the very core of our Scandinavian origin. New Citroen C4 Picasso spied undisguised
The Citroen C4 Picasso has been spotted with a Juke-inspired new look
This is the all-new Citroen C4 Picasso, spied completely undisguised ahead of its debut in concept form at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
Our pictures show the new five-seat C4 Picasso MPV. The new car is expected to feature similar dimensions as the current car, which measures 4,470mm long, 1,830 tall and 1,680 wide. However, better interior packaging should mean more space and a bigger boot capacity than the current car's 500 litres.
However, while it retains similar proportions to the current C4 Picasso, the all-new car does get a bold new nose.
Dominated by Citroen’s latest double chevron grille, the C4 now features two pairs of headlamp clusters, similar in idea to the Nissan Juke. Slim roof pillars feature all round, and the side glass now has a chunky chrome frame running round its edge.
At the rear, the C4 Picasso’s design is much more sober, with a relatively simple bootlid design and pair of Volkswagen Golf-style LED tail-lights.
The C4 Picasso will be the first production car to use the new PSA EMP2 platform that will help shed 70kg from the current car’s 1,680kg weight. Like the new Peugeot 308, which will also be built on the EMP2 platform, the C4 Picasso will feature up to a 22 per cent improvement in CO2 emissions, thanks to a suite of measures aimed at improving economy. This will take the Airdream model below 100g/km.
Citroen claims that work to reduce friction in the drivetrain will save around 4g/km, with a stop-start-equipped engine line-up accounting for a 4g/km saving, while a new electric power steering system saves 2.5g.km.
The C4 Picasso will also feature the new PSA touchscreen infotainment system that will be used on all cars underpinned by the EMP2 platform.
These pictures were taken in Vigo, Spain, just down the road from where the C4 Picasso and larger seven-seat Grand Picasso MPV are built. The production version of the five-seat C4 Picasso and seven-seat Grand Picasso will arrive in the UK in October.
Ferrari F70 - The Enzo successor
It’s being hailed as the ultimate, most advanced road car Ferrari has ever made. Aiming to leave exotic rivals including the Lamborghini Reventón and Bugatti Veyron trailing, the ferocious flagship will break from the norm in more ways than one. And our stunning illustrations show how such a model could look.
It will be not only quicker and more focused than the Enzo, but smaller, lighter and more fuel efficient, too. In addition, the latest rumours suggest a twin-turbo V8 will provide the power. It will be the first use of turbos in a production Ferrari since the 1987 F40, making this the spiritual successor to that definitive hypercar.
Internally codenamed the F70, the newcomer will use knowledge gathered from the FXX scheme. This invited customers to buy a pumped-up and stripped-out version of the Enzo for £1.5million, but allowed them to drive their purchases only on approved track days. Afterwards, they briefed Ferrari on possible improvements.
The philosophy behind this new downsized and lightweight hypercar is derived from 2007’s Millechilli concept. Although little more than a fibreglass model, it demonstrated Ferrari’s aim to increase the performance of future models by shedding weight, not by hiking power. Millechilli means 1,000kg in Italian. It’s an ambitious target for the F70’s kerbweight – a full 365kg less than the Enzo – but Ferrari is ready to apply every weight-saving measure possible.
Rival McLaren is leading the way in lightweight construction, with an F1-style carbon fibre tub forming the basis of its MP4-12C supercar, so Ferrari wants to regain the initiative in this area. An overhauled and shrunken tub, carbon fibre body panels – plus carbon-ceramic brakes and a no-frills cabin – should keep weight to a minimum. Ferrari already heads efforts to reduce CO2, having slashed output by 10 per cent in 2009. It promises further cuts from its current 387g/km average by 2012.
But reducing body mass alone won’t be enough to achieve this. To slash CO2 significantly, the engine also needs an advanced design. The Enzo’s V12 will make way for a new direct-injection twin-turbo V8 – the same layout as in the legendary F40. Output is likely to be on a par with the Enzo’s 660bhp, but that lower weight should put performance on another level. Expect a three-second 0-60mph time and top speed in excess of 230mph.
A twin-turbo V6 is also under consideration, to replace the 458 Italia and California’s V8s. Yet before either unit is signed off, engineers are keen to eliminate turbo lag. The F40 was famous for the delay between throttle inputs and the arrival of a savage wave of torque. But Ferrari claims it won’t resort to turbos again until it’s perfected the technology to give the instant response for which its naturally aspirated cars are renowned.
One option is electric or hybrid chargers. These use a small electric motor to spool the turbos up to operating speeds much faster than in a normal set-up, where exhaust gas has to be recirculated. The result is a virtual elimination of turbo lag and a linear power delivery that will be familiar to owners of current Ferraris.
Just like the Enzo, the F70 will be strictly limited to a production run of 399 examples, adhering to Ferrari’s philosophy of always building one less car than you think you can sell. But not just anyone will be able to put their name on the waiting list. Buyers will need to be personally invited by Ferrari to stump up the expected million (£600,000) asking price when the car goes on sale in 2012.
Daimler earnings rise by 8% after the sale of its stake in Addis
Daimler said the German maker of Mercedes-Benz luxury she recorded an increase of 8% in its net profit last year following the sale of its stake in the European defense and aviation industries, "EADS".

Fiat profit rise in 2012 and the opening of a factory for Maserati luxury cars
